Golden milk smoothie

One thing that I simply can't get enough of is Golden Milk! Here's a super yummy anti-inflammatory smoothie packed with all that golden-milky-good stuff!

What is golden milk? Well, it's not milk(dairy) at all, actually... At least not as I'm used to making it. If you've never tried traditional Golden milk, head over to my post about it here. If you have, I'm sure you're already a huge fan... Because, well, there's not really another option... :P

With all of it's heating spices, Golden Milk is a great way to increase digestion and circulation. The basis of golden milk is a combination of the warming turmeric, black pepper and ginger along with some cinnamon and cardamom mixed in some plant based milk.

Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory that exhibits over 150 potentially therapeutic activities, including antimicrobial activity as well as potent anti-cancer properties. Turmeric is known to lowers inflammation and blood sugar levels in the body.

Think that black pepper sounds like a weird ingredient for a smoothie? Think again!

It is much more beneficial to take black pepper with turmeric because it helps the body absorb the turmeric.

The human body has a tough time utilizing curcumin (the naturally occurring chemical compound in turmeric) effectively. However just a small amount of black pepper boosts bio availability of curcumin by up to 2000%.

If you have problems with digestion or chronic inflammations you might want to consider incorporating more turmeric into your diet. This smoothie is a super easy way to do that!

About...

The maple syrup's glycemic reaction has been found to be low. This is because the maple syrup contains naturally blood sugar regulating molecules in combination with a type of plantbased hormone that counteract insulin resistance. Maple syrup also contains polyphenols, a natural anti inflammatory and antioxidant substance.

Dates are also low on the glycemic index, especially when combined with nuts or seeds. Dates are usually my first choice for sweetening, but it's important not to have too many if you have problems with blood sugar, hormonal problems or have diabetes.

Enjoy!
